Every day you are in the run to accomplish things in life. You want to work, get your kids to school on time and still have time for shopping. In such a fast pacing life, it is easy to forget to take good care of your health by maintaining a healthy living. You may exercise once in a while but do you remember to cook healthy foods for a healthy living. To live a healthy life, there are foods that you need to incorporate in your diet. They include:

Beans

The good thing about beans is that they are rich in protein and provide high-fiber content that helps slow digestion. A cup of beans contains about 200-400 calories meaning that they are very good for people who want to lose weight. Remember that beans are inexpensive and easily accessible so do not give excuses as to why you cannot enjoy them.

Apples

He who said that eating an apple every day will keep the doctor away, must have eaten it long enough to realize that apples are very rich in potassium, antioxidants and fiber thus protecting you from ailments such as heart diseases and ensuring that you remain young even as you age.

Almonds

Some people will raise eyebrows at the sight of almonds because they are said to contain high calories. However, as much as they contain high calories, it is important to note that they do not lead to increase of the belly fat. The importance of these fruits is that they are rich in vitamins and fiber. What’s more, you do not need to sit down so that you eat them. You can have them in the office, at home or even as you walk.

Vegetables

You may forget many other types of foods, but you should never ignore vegetables when preparing your food because they are not only great sources of vitamins and fiber but they also contribute in ensuring that you lead a healthy life that is reflected in your glowing face. Some of the veggies that you should incorporate in your diet include spinach, kales, broccoli and other traditional vegetables that may be available in your location.

The above are not just the only foods that you should incorporate in your diet. Any food that makes you healthy, should find its way on your plate during the various meals of the day. Here is to your healthy living!

Whether you’re feeling low or simply need some motivation to get back on track and have a positive attitude- there exist a simple and effective trick that will make you go wow- yes, its running. The sad fact is that the simple act of running as a form of exercise tends to be underestimated- there’s a lot it does.

Here are 7 super reasons why you need to put on those shoes and get out and run- it could your ultimate therapy!

It Makes you Happier
Those who exercise on a daily basis will bet by it- working out can make you feel better almost instantly. This is because running and most other forms of exercise stimulate the brain to release feel-good hormones, which help you feel better when you’re sad or stressed.

It Keeps your Brain Sharp
Many studies have found that exercising regularly can help keep your brain strong and active, and can prevent age related mental decline. What’s more, it can also preserve memory, improve attention span and boost concentration, which definitely makes it the best natural remedy for better brain health.

It Strengthens your Knees
Running is known to improve bone mass, and can also help combat age related decline in bone mineral density. The belief that running is bad for your knees is totally untrue- infact, running at a medium pace can improve health of the knees and other joints as well.

You’ll Step Out of your Comfort Zone
Your weekdays may be packed with work, and you usually sit back and relax with a few good movies on weekends- so exercising may seem out of question. But once in a while, try and get out to exercise- not only will it physically help you get out of your comfort zone, but it will also broaden your horizons and help you look at things from a fresh perspective.

It Adds Years to your Life
Running adds years to your life- literally! Exercising for just 30 minutes a day could increase your life span considerably, and many studies have found that it could benefit chronic smokers, heart disease and cancer patients as well. Running for even a short time everyday can improve the flow of oxygen into the body, which strengthens the internal organs and keeps them healthy.

Pace Doesn’t Matter
The best part about getting out and running is that there’s no competition or no goals you’ve got to live up to. Even if you have a slow pace, running can still provide you many benefits, and most of all, it’ll get you more positive, active and energetic.

It Offers Protection
Just like every other form of exercise, running too, offers the body protection against a wide range of diseases by simply strengthening the immune system. Infact, it as been found that regular exercise could reduce the risk of several cancers by a good percentage, and it can also boost the success rate of those undergoing chemotherapy sessions for cancer.

The internet is flooded with embarrassing moments. There are plenty of people trying to work out and doing it horribly wrong. Such a person is known by a lot of terms such as rookie, beginner, and even the insulting term ‘noob’. But, if you want to set yourself apart from these terms and rather be considered as a ‘promising beginner’, here are some common mistakes you should never make when going to the gym:

1.	Guessing: One of the best ways to go viral is to just guess how a piece of equipment works. You may end up looking like the funniest person in the entire gym. Yes, we also understand that always bugging your gym trainer every time you can’t understand how something works seems awful, but the way things go in the gym are a bit different. Here, the experts are more than happy to help you get to your fitness goals provided that you show promise. So, heed their advice any time you are confused.

2.	Magical Supplements: Supplements, as the word suggests, is something which is supplementary to your current diet, and not a replacement. Be it the amino acids, proteins, mass gainer or any other form of supplement, in the end what matters is how much you work out and what do you eat. There are even some supplements which are completely useless, bringing no change to your body at all. Such can be easily seen in TV commercials, newspapers, social media and whatnot. The claims are too good to be true, because they are.

3.	Planning Early: Perhaps the most common mistake that a person could make when going to the gym is going with a goal. It seems stupid to work out without one, but if you don’t believe us, consult someone else who is a gym enthusiast and he/she will tell you the same thing. Staying persistent should be the goal instead of losing x amount of weight or getting ‘swole’.

4.	Abrupt Change: Those who have ditched their early diet completely and changed to a new one should be aware that it never works, simply because a large majority of us do not have the will to cope with the major change, and that’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Instead, you can live a healthy lifestyle by gradually increasing the healthy food and decreasing the unhealthy ones to help the body adjust more easily.

Making it to the gym every time is just not realistic these days, considering the number of different tasks we cram into an average day and the unforeseen events which do occur that require us to adjust our scheduled activities. However, not being able to make it to the gym occasionally should not bring about a break in your workout routine as you may want to consider doing home fitness workouts instead.

Most people do not do fitness workouts from home because they do not believe in its effectiveness but the truth is that home fitness workouts which are done regularly and with sufficient intensity can be very effective. Given the varying goals for exercising, home fitness workouts may not be ideal for everyone but it does offer the occasional break from the regular routine even for the most dedicated gym enthusiast.

While there is some doubt as to how effective home fitness workouts are compared to regular gym time, the truth is that you can see very good result from working out at home depending on what your goals are. What is important is to ensure that your home fitness routines are balanced and include exercises that deal with flexibility, strength and cardio. You also don’t require lots of fitness equipment as dumbbells and body weight trainings will do just fine. Some of the exercises you can do right from home are:-

Push-ups: These are very effective workout routines for the pectoral muscles and the workout benefits can be maximized by varying the spread of the hands to exercise different parts of the chest. If you’re looking to take things to another level, you can place your feet on an elevated surface such as a chair or bed and push up with your arms.

Shoulder exercises: Shoulder fitness workouts are not very effective using the body weight alone but there are great fitness workouts which can be very easily done around the house using just a dumbbell and these include front raises, side raises and the seated press.

Arm exercises: There are many effective arm workout routines you can do around the house using a set of dumbbells and chair. Triceps – You can effectively build your triceps by closing the distance between your hands while doing your regular push-up routines. Another way of exercising your triceps is by sitting down and extending your arms behind your neck while holding a dumbbell. Biceps – You can exercise your biceps by doing bicep curls either sitting or standing. You can also do hammer curls and concentrated curls.

While the decision to go for home fitness workouts or to stick with the gym is purely that of the individual, home fitness workouts have gained popularity simply because they work, they are effective and people see results. Whatever your choice, it is important to engage in fitness workouts which exercise the whole body, to do them regularly and to stick with them until you see the desired results. Bear in mind that fitness routines which are intense but not done regularly yield very little result.

To achieve a healthy lifestyle, you will want to engage in more physical activities, eat less and eat better. As your diet can be slowly change over time to get into the habit of healthy eating, it’s one of the easier aspects of healthy living to achieve. With a better nutritionally balanced diet, in no time at all will you be feeling and looking great, which in turn can provide you with the extra encouragement to up your exercise and improve your fitness!

The Less Sugar the Better

Sugar is in so many common food and drink items out there that it’s no surprise it contributes to so many different health problems. The likes of tooth decay and weight gain are just a few of the issues caused by a high-sugar intake, making it one of the first things you should try to reduce when looking for more nutrition from your food.

Soda, candy, chocolate and alcohol are among some of the most common food and drinks with a high-sugar content, and they can be pretty hard to give up.

For drinking, try to swap water for soda and alcohol whenever you can, and you will notice your health benefiting in no time. Even opting for reduced or sugar-free products as opposed to the ones you normally buy is a great way to ease into eating less sugar, but you should attempt to cut it out completely if possible.

Food labels can help you better understand what has too much sugar and what is better for you. Try swapping sugary treats for fruit over time, as these offer natural sugars.

Drink as Much Water as You Can

Water can be the most important factor when trying to better your nutritional intake. They say eight glasses of water a day is what the body needs, and we can bet most people don’t get anywhere near that. Around 70 fluid ounces of water are the daily recommendation, and if you can get close to that, then you are on the right track.

Water keeps you hydrated, making both the mind and body feel at its best. Even if the first thing you do when setting out to achieve healthy living is to try and drink more water, it’s a fine place to start.

You will feel more alert and less tired, and any cravings for food can be kept down too due to proper hydration. Our bodies often confuse being thirsty with being hungry, so as we drink more water our appetites become more suppressed. Curbing eating too much, means you can better avoid other nutritional mistakes and get on track to a healthy mind and body.

As far back as the Greeks, the importance of having a sound mind and sound body were understood and “of Sound Mind and Sound Body” became that credo.

So what did the Ancient Greek know that we seem to have forgotten or lost? Let’s take a look back in history and see what we can find, again. For a healthy mind and a healthy body, the following 7 habits have proved to be a valuable tool.

•	Daily Physical Activity: Every day, find 20 minutes to exercise at least 3 times a week.

•	Feed Your Curiosity: Curiosity is said to have killed the cat, but it has been discovered by taking a few minutes of your day each day to learn something new, it can only expand your brain.

•	Nurture Creativity: Every day, find a way for your mind to be challenged with new ideas and new ways to do things. Try to connect ideas that are unrelated to each other.

•	Human Accord: Create close-knit relationships with others and find a social network to be a part of.

•	Connect Spiritually: Find a source that inspires you spiritually that is bigger than you.

•	Find A Balance Of Energy: Minimize the carbon footprint you’re leaving and balance your intake and output of calories.

•	Voluntary Get Simple: Find and enjoy the liberty that you can have when you find you can live with less.

Evolutionary Biology versus Today’s Technology
Look at this timeline of inventions that changed the world as it went:

There are several possible reasons of weight gain, and a slow metabolism is one of them.

Here are 5 simple yoga poses that you could try at home, which could help you give your metabolism a push in the right direction. Just make sure you get advice from your healthcare provider before you try it yourself, especially if you’re a newbie.

Standing Backbend
This pose is a valuable energizer- it contracts your glute muscles, abdominal, chest and hip muscles, and also improves the flexibility of your spine. Start by standing straight on the ground and slowly bending backwards, placing the palms on your hand on the back of your upper thigh for some support. Don’t exert a lot of pressure and push yourself backwards- just tilt it slightly, breathe in and get back to the original position as you breathe out.

Half Moon Pose
The half moon pose does a lot more than just improving your metabolism- it targets your hip abductor, hamstring and oblique muscles and enhances your ability to balance. Stand on one leg and slowly bend down on the left side, placing the fingers of your left hand on the floor. Hold your right hand straight up and your right leg parallel to your hip and breathe in. Stay in this position for a couple of seconds and follow it with the other side.

Tree Pose
The tree pose is probably one of the easiest yoga poses to try. This powerful balance pose uses the muscles in your legs to strengthen the core, the legs and the abdominal muscles as well. Infact, apart from boosting metabolism, this pose also helps you stay more calm and focused.
Simply stand straight on the floor on one leg and visualize yourself as a tree with roots going down into the ground. Hold both your arms above your head and visualize them as branches. Try to hold a steady position and breathe.

Shoulder Stand
This pose is thought to work by stimulating the thyroid gland and improving the secretion of thyroid hormones, thereby boosting metabolism. Start by lying down on your back and slowly lifting your legs upwards as you breathe in. Use your hands to support your lower back and move your entire torso a bit upwards- make sure your neck and head do not move. Hold this position for a couple of seconds and slowly release.

Plow Pose
Also known as Halasana, the plow pose is an effective yoga pose to try out to boost your metabolism naturally. This posture compresses your throat region, which stimulates your thyroid gland and boosts metabolism.
Simply lie down on your back and use your abdominal muscles to bring your legs over your head. You can also use your hands to support your lower back, and try to bring the tips of your toes back towards the floor. If hold onto this pose for a couple of seconds and then release slowly.

During the winter months it can be easy to fall out of the workout routine for all of us. We keep telling ourselves we’ll get back to it next week, first of the month, after that holiday, etc, etc. So we keep postponing it and next thing we know, it is springtime and we are not even close to being ready for summer. By that point, we’ve lost most of the fitness we had worked so hard to gain, so it’s almost like starting over. Except this time you know what to expect, you know what you can do and what you’ll gain from it. With some motivation and a support system in place, you can rock this out and get back in shape! Here are 4 ways that will ensure you of getting back on the workout routine again: 1. Ease Up On Yourself. Know right up front that you aren’t going to be perfect at this exercise thing and you can’t start up where you left off. Tell yourself that you need to take it slow and easy, working yourself back to the level of duration and intensity you had. Have a positive attitude but don’t have high […]

Here are 4 ways that will ensure you of getting back on the workout routine again:

1. Ease Up On Yourself. Know right up front that you aren’t going to be perfect at this exercise thing and you can’t start up where you left off. Tell yourself that you need to take it slow and easy, working yourself back to the level of duration and intensity you had. Have a positive attitude but don’t have high expectations. Those high expectations will only intimidate you. Just like you did before, increase your adherence slow and sure.

2. Five Times For Ten Minutes. Next, set your exercise routine for 5 times a week, 10 minutes each. This is the best way to get eased back into your routine while building your endurance again, and making exercising and working out a habit. Get these 5 times a week for 10 minutes sessions down good, then focus on working out longer than those 5 times a week.

3. Massage Those Muscles. Getting back into an exercise routine, you’ll have some sore muscles. Treat yourself to a massage from time to time to relieve that soreness. Consider it a reward for your hard work.

4. Dig Some New Tunes. No matter how long ago it was you were on the workout routine, the music probably has changed. Update your Mp3 with new tunes. Good music is one of the best pump-ups for working out.

These are just a few tips, quick and simple, and hopefully give you some inspiration to get back at it and push yourself through those first few days. You know you’ll have some pain at first. But you also know what you achieved last time.

We all have heard and are aware of people all over the world recommending to exercise because it makes a healthy body, gives you a better look, and just overall makes you feel better. All of this is goody good stuff, but what about the things you’ve never heard of? That’s right, there are many more advantages of maintaining your body than what meets the eye so without further ado, let’s just get right into it: 1. Improves Mood: It is common among most people to attribute exercise to a physical activity that only focuses on making your body better. We won’t disagree that a larger percentage of doing exercise is regarding the physical stuff, it does provide some advantages on a mental level as well. For instance, exercising for a while will bring a sense of achievement, and every time you push your limit or reach your fitness goal, the sense of ‘feel-good’ increases even more. Furthermore, it also helps in focusing and increasing your coordination among individual body parts since a lot of exercise require correct posture and position to perform many exercises. 2.

We all have heard and are aware of people all over the world recommending to exercise because it makes a healthy body, gives you a better look, and just overall makes you feel better. All of this is goody good stuff, but what about the things you’ve never heard of? That’s right, there are many more advantages of maintaining your body than what meets the eye so without further ado, let’s just get right into it:

2.	Increase Stamina: It seems kind of obvious that when you run on the treadmill for 20 minutes, do a lot of strenuous physical activity which involves lifting weights, pulling them down, performing push-ups and whatnot, your stamina increases dramatically as your body gets accustomed to that sort of stress over time, which is also a positive towards the factors of strength and endurance.

3.	Increased Sex Drive: Yes, exercising frequently will increase libido due to increased stamina and energy. Don’t believe us? Studies have proven that too, along with the claim that men who do not exercise frequently are at a higher risk of having erectile dysfunction as compared to those who exercise regularly. And it’s not just for the men, women who exercise frequently feel aroused often too.

4.	Better Sleep Cycle: One of the main reasons that we cannot sleep early is because we get up late, or we have excess energy stored within us, which prevents the body from resting since it isn’t tired yet. It goes without saying that exercising on a daily basis will put a lot of stress on your body, enough to make you tired enough at night to promote a good sleep cycle. In fact, studies have also proven that exercising regularly improves the condition of those suffering from chronic insomnia.
