Here Are Tips To Stay Healthy Amid Season Change

August 19, 2024 by admin in Healthy Living

Changing temperatures can take a toll on your immunity and health. Here are tips to stay healthy as winter transits into summer.

As the season transits from winter to spring to hot summer, it is common to catch hold of ailments like cold, cough, common flu, and so on. With temperature rising a degree each day, hospitals and clinics are thronged with coughing patients. Increasing temperatures can also cause heatstroke, diarrhoea, fever and dehydration. Save yourself from this season change by following these simple measures.

1. Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water and other fluids to keep up with your immunity. It is important to shield yourself by hydrating as increasing temperature causes sweat through which salts and fluids of your body are given away. It is advisable to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water in a day. Set your water alarms and drink water on frequent intervals of time without fail. You can also add lemonade, refreshing juices and smoothies to your diet to stay hydrated. Hydrating yourself can help you prevent problems like heatstroke.

2. Eat Seasonal Foods

It is healthier to eat seasonal fruits and vegetables as they are harvested fresh. As summer approaches, several fruits start to arrive in the market such as watermelon, mango, muskmelon, pear, jackfruit and so on. As per studies, watermelon is 91% water and can help you bring back your lost electrolytes and keep you hydrated. Muskmelon fruit is the best source of vitamins, minerals, and bioactive components. Mango, being the king of fruits, has abundant health benefits to offer as it helps in treating various ailments like diarrhoea, fever, haemorrhages and even ulcers. Other fresh fruits also provide good health benefits for you to survive season change without getting affected.

3. Boost Immunity

Infections and diseases always attack people with low immunity. So, to save yourselves from viral and bacterial attack, it is important that you boost your immune system. Consuming foods with rich content of antioxidants gives your body required strength to combat diseases. Antioxidants are also known as ‘free radical scavengers’. According to a study, Antioxidants are chemicals that interact with and neutralise free radicals, thus preventing them from causing damage. Berries, citrus fruits, and green leafy vegetables contain good amounts of antioxidants. Herbs like ginger and turmeric also contain antioxidants in abundance. Incorporating these antioxidant-high fruits into your diet to stay fit by building your immune system strong.

4. Protect Your Skin

As winter subsides, the rays of the sun start becoming intense and sharp. These harmful ultraviolet rays can cause several skin conditions and diseases and can sometimes lead to cancer. Additionally, sun tan and sunburns are other problems that occur due to sun exposure in summers. It is important to wear sunscreen every time you step outdoors. Covering your skin to protect it from sun damage is essential.

Conclusion

Above mentioned are just a few general tips. It is advisable to consult a healthcare professional to seek advice as per your problem or condition. This summer, stay healthy and safe.
