April 05, 2023 by kevin in Mind & Body

Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years, offering benefits in both the mind and body for all who taken part in one of the many disciplines available. Such longevity in a form of fitness alludes to something that is incredibly beneficial for a person’s health, which it unquestionable is.

Aerobic and strength exercise is provided from the physical side of yoga, and overall mental well-being can be improved through the various forms of breathing and meditation that are also part of yoga. All in all, you can expect to be more flexible, toned and mindful when practicing yoga regularly – no wonder it’s so popular!

However, sometimes you can get into a rut and get bored with your classes. Maybe you tried a few out and haven’t quite found one to your liking. There are many different schools of yoga, with a lot to offer depending on what you are looking for. This has led to some impressive interpretations of yoga that are a little different from the norm.

Check them out and see if any of these take your fancy:

Boxing Yoga

The core of the body is one of the main areas of the body where you can really notice the physical improvements gained from yoga. Holding many different positions can work out many of your core muscles, leading to increased strength.

Boxing yoga follows these lines, yet focuses on really conditioning the body into amazing shape. Movement is another important component of both yoga and boxing, so it’s clear to see why a blend of both can work on this to great effect, whilst also improving strength.

Stretching and rigorous movements are notable aspects of boxing yoga, giving a good cardio and strength workout. However, you will still feel a great sense of mental clarity at the end of a class, ensuring your mind still gets a good workout too. Plus you will feel in incredible shape!

Bathtub Yoga

If boxing yoga is all about upping the physical side of yoga, then bathtub yoga is all about taking a much slower and more soothing approach. This is a far more relaxing type of yoga, with the movements being a much more gentle and slow-paced.

This style places a strong emphasis on the mental relaxation gained from yoga – what better place to relax and unwind than having a nice soak in the tub?

You still perform stretches and movements, except that they are tailored for lying back in the tub!

After a long bath and a spot of yoga, you can be sure to feel fantastic afterwards, whilst still giving your body a good workout in the process.

Continue reading on to find out some more interesting yet still remarkably effective styles of yoga that will leave your mind and body feeling amazing.
