How to Get the Most from a Personal Trainer

March 30, 2023 by kevin in Workouts

Anyone looking to get into better shape and up their fitness levels, hiring the services of a personal trainer may be worth the investment. Yes, they are a rather costly investment, but as anyone who has hired a personal trainer before can tell you, it’s more than worth it if you can afford it.

Personal trainers never let you work out at anything less than 1000%. While that may sound rather daunting, but when it comes to hitting your fitness targets, they can really help you achieve any goals you set forth.

You get first-hand help with your fitness, from routines to try out to what pace you have to set. Those who are unsure how to perform a certain exercise routine or how to use a piece of equipment can be shown the ropes by a personal trainer, and make sure you get a killer workout every single time.

Check out what to look for in a personal trainer and how to get the most out them:

Do Your Homework

Everyone knows what they like and dislike in a person, and when it comes to a person that is supposed to motivate you to work out, it’s safe to say you will want the most suitable person you can find.

Working out with a personal trainer you hate will only impair your fitness plans, so always do your research to find out what they are like. You can watch from the gym they work in and ask other clients what they think of them and the styles and methods they use when training.

You want to click with your personal trainer to make the experience more enjoyable!

Get the Most Out of Your Time

Most personal trainers offer sessions that begin at hourly rates. This means you will want to squeeze in as much as possible in that hour, considering the cost of their services!

A great way to do this in the beginning is to ask them how to do a proper warm-up. This will be nothing to a personal trainer, and they will love to help you with it even before your allocated time starts. So before you start your first few workout sessions, ask them to show you how to do a proper 5-10 minute warm up. It means you can jump right into things once your session begins.

Plan When Your Workouts Will Be in Advance

Those that have a pre-planned workout schedule are always more likely to stick to it than those that don’t. So if you want to make the most of a personal trainer, you will want to get a few sessions booked well in advance to ensure you commit to it long enough for it to be worthwhile.

Every session does not even need to be with your trainer. Say you book their services for six sessions; you can have two sessions a week with your trainer (for three weeks) broken up by a third day in the gym by yourself. This means you will already have three days a week of fitness planned well in advance, making you likelier to see it all through!
