  • MEDITATION – HOW IT CAN MAKE YOU ANGRY, AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!

March 25, 2023 by kevin in Mind & Body

From providing instant stress relief to boosting energy levels- meditation is known to do a lot for the body. The fact that meditation could actually make you angry may seem laughable, but yes, it can actually happen, and it can be due to several possible reasons.
Keep reading to know more about why meditation could get you enraged, and how you could tackle it better.

    Can Meditation Induce Anger?

Yes, meditation can induce anger. This is because different people have different personalities, and react to situations in different ways. For some, the idea of sitting down for 20 minutes and focusing on the breath may seem like getting into relaxation mode, while for some others, it may just be impossible.

Also, a lot of times, the most important aspects of meditation tend to get ignored- the basic goal of meditation is to calm down the mind, and in turn, experience benefits for the body. Meditation also helps you get in touch with your true self and boosts the natural purge of your body and rids it of everything negative- whether at the physical or emotional level.

This is why some people may experience sadness or anger after a meditation session- they may have some unhandled or bottled up feelings, which are simply getting purged out of their system as they meditate.

Tips to Boost the Benefits of Meditation

Remember- always express your natural emotions, especially when you are meditating. Trying to keep yourself poised with a lot of effort is actually bad- if you feel certain emotions coming up, express them.

Here are some simple ways to handle anger better and help them get purged out of your body during meditation.

    • Punch a pillow- it may sound weird, but it is a tried and tested technique that works wonders in releasing stress. If you have a punching bag at home, you could even go for a vigorous boxing session- the basic idea is to let all your anger out until you are exhausted.

    • Exercise and sweat it out- the best way to release anger is to indulge in a vigorous exercise session- it can be anything you’re comfortable with.

    • Scream- yes, it is okay to raise your voice- find a spot where you wont be heard and scream your lungs out, expressing every bit of anger you have.

Always make sure you work towards eliminating the root cause of your anger or sadness or any other emotion instead of trying to bottle it up.
