Mind, Body and Spirit

March 22, 2023 by kevin in Mind & Body

Sometimes we forget about the most important things in life. Often we neglect the mind, body and spirit and wonder why we feel so down and depressed. Amazingly, a low mood can be lifted by doing something so simple. Nourishing your psyche with exercise, mental health and bodily functions that improve our well-being is simply not performed enough.

Often it is the smallest things like breathing properly that we overlook. We will touch on breathing and how it should be done later, but right now it’s important to understand that three significant parts of ourselves are interdependent: the mind, body and soul. The soul is more commonly known as the spirit. And there is nothing religious or paranormal in this fact. Every person born has a spirit.

If you look after your spirit, the mind and body will see the benefits. It is a positive way to banish depression, mental instabilities, physical ailments and a variety of other complications that bring us down. Looking after the spirit is not as simple as flicking a switch, you must act to get your spirits high and lift yourself to heights you never thought would have been possible.

So, where does one start? The simplest point to begin at is the breathing. A series of deep breaths will relax you and make you alert. Try it! Make the effort to breathe in through the nose slowly for three seconds (count quietly in your mind). Then hold the breath for a period of just one second before slowly exhaling, then repeat. Try this for ten breaths and ask yourself if you feel any different.

It is also important to find somewhere nice and quiet to do this and away from the noise of television, screaming youngsters or heavy traffic. However, experienced meditation experts often choose to practice their deep breathing techniques right next to a sea. The splashing and crashing of the waves is an excellent natural sound for this exercise. Similarly, pouring rain and even a distant thunderstorm can have the same calming effect.

You don’t have to breathe like this every moment of the day, just be sure to practice the spiritual exercise at least three times every day. Sleep is also an important part of our lives. A lack of sleep will result in a feeling of anxiety, low energy levels, health problems and lack of concentration.
